The portraits in this section were originally sculpted in clay as studies for larger pieces of work; as you've probably noticed in States of Being the majority of the bronzes don't have facial features, which was a considered intentention.
Faces draw ones attention immediately, conversly leaving them out invites a different pathway while looking at the work, one that draws you towards searching out a narrative. These pieces were a prelude to creating an adrogenous style to describe a face, because as with the smaller pieces I was trying to avoid the 'person' or inherant character becoming the primary focus of the sculpture.
