CORK THUMBNAILS

When I began working as a sculptor over ten years ago I randomly launched into a piece of clay not really giving a thought to scale or even outcome  as it was so new to me, and I instantly fell in love.  However, I began my artistic journey with a pencil in hand as not exploring the pose in sketch form first was alien to me,  so after my initial infatuation with clay I drew back a little and began to join together the 'dots' of my practice.  I'd realised that it's a pretty time consuming business working through your thoughts at full size,  and so inspired by Alberto Giacometti, I alighted upon working at a miniature scale to trial the pose as a three dimensional sketch with the corks making a lovely platform to sit them on .
